Librarian salaries vary, depending on your career goals, librarian specialty, and the region of the country in which you will live. The 2010 American Library Association (ALA) Salary Survey indicated that the median salary for all librarians was $55,883. The median salary for all (U.S. and Canadian) Association for Research Libraries (ARL) university libraries was $68,407 in 2011-12. With the baby boom generation set to retire over the next few years, the need for new academic librarians and new librarian leaders will be strong.
