Field recordings created by American anthropologist Stephen Leavitt include interviews and events related to the ethnography of the Bumbita Arapesh people of East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, which formed the core of Leavitt's doctoral dissertation in anthropology at the University of California, San Diego. The recordings were described and arranged in numeric order by Leavitt.
The sound recordings were digitized through support by a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Sound recordings are available upon request and registration. - Creation Date
