James Sanford and Jean Doyle traveled to China in March 1972 as part of the Committee of Concerned Asian Scholars (CCAS) 2nd Friendship Delegation. The 30 member group were divided into two smaller ones of 15, each to have its own separate itinerary and guides upon leaving Guangzhou, their initial stop in China. The two groups converged again in Beijing towards the end of the trip. Sanford and Doyle’s group went to Changsha, Shaoshan, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, Beijing, Foshan and Guangzhou. The color slides in this collection documented their trip in 1972.
