Finding Media

• Browse the Film & Video Collections guide
• Search for media using UC Library Search
  • Limit by Material Type or Resource Type: Video/Film
• Can't find what you need?
  • Use the Purchase Request Form
  • Make an Interlibrary Loan request

Requesting Media

Media items are held in storage

• Search for media using UC Library Search and select the 'Arts Media Request' link to complete the form
  • Media will be available within 2 business days
  • You will receive an email notification when materials are ready for pickup
  • All media will be held for pickup at the Geisel Service Hub
  • Non-affiliates must use media materials in the library
• Media may be requested in person on-demand at the Geisel Service Hub
  • Materials will be retrieved within 15 minutes

Viewing Media

• The Library (Digital Media Lab 2nd floor) provides playback stations for audiovisual materials from its collections (including reserve items). Format support includes DVD, Blu-ray, and VHS. See the Geisel Service Hub to arrange onsite viewing
• Portable Blu-Ray players are available for checkout to students, staff, and faculty
• PC productivity stations (most library computers) have disc drives for DVD playback (no Blu-Ray)

Streaming Media

• Use UC Library Search to find media by author, title or keyword
• Use the Databases A-Z limited to Streaming Media to find media through databases packages

16mm Film Collection

• Screening of 16mm films must be arranged in advance by submitting the 16mm Film Viewing Request Form
• In-class screenings of 16mm films must be projected by professionals from Educational Technology Services

UC San Diego Library Digital Collections

• Visit the Library Digital Collections site and browse by format to discover archival audio and video collections
