Instruction & Teaching

Special Collections & Archives supports the teaching mission of the University of California by making its collections available for numerous classes during the year. Members of the Special Collections staff are available to instruct UC San Diego students on how to find and use the primary resources in Special Collections and beyond, or to help suggest and locate materials for faculty to use with their classes.

We are happy to host in-person class visits to Special Collections & Archives, visit your physical or virtual classroom, make scans of materials, or create videos or other instructional tools for use in asynchronous classes. Special Collections staff can teach class sessions focused on Special Collections holdings in a specific subject area, provide instruction on archival research, and provide general overviews on the history of printing, among other topics.

To speak with a librarian about these options, send a request to spcoll@ucsd.edu .
