Committee on Appointment, Promotion & Advancement (CAPA)
Charge
The Committee on Appointment, Promotion, and Advancement (CAPA) reviews and makes recommendations on all files in the Librarian series for merit, promotion, career status, and special cases. CAPA also reviews and makes recommendations on all job descriptions for appointments to the Librarian series, including part-time and temporary appointments. CAPA meets all candidates interviewing for appointment to the Librarian series to evaluate their potential for obtaining career status and to share information related to the Librarian review process.
CAPA is comprised of four members who serve two-year terms, with terms staggered so that two new members join two returning members every year. Members are elected by the general LAUC-SD membership. One of the returning members is appointed committee chair by the LAUC-SD Chair.
For more information on CAPA, see the LAUC-SD Bylaws, LAUC-SD Academic Review Policies, or the University of California Academic Personnel Manual.
